Membership Benefits

Arizona Apicultural Society (AAS) started in 1984 as Beekeepers Association of Central Arizona to support beekeepers and to make their beehives more successful.  As the oldest bee club in the state of Arizona, we help new beekeepers, hobbyists, side-liners, and commercial beekeepers be better beekeepers and enjoy beekeeping more.  In 2024, we changed our name because there is a need for a state group that will support beekeepers and bee clubs throughout our state.  Whether you want to keep two hives in the backyard or make a full-time living at beekeeping, we are here to help you.

Arizona Apicultural Society offers the following types of support:

Our monthly meetings are at the Phoenix Garden Center, 1809 N. 15th Ave, just north of I-10 in central Phoenix at 7 pm on the third Thursday of the month.  At these meetings we answer questions, have speakers talk about current beekeeping needs, and give you an opportunity to meet and make friends with other beekeepers and people who want to learn about bees, too.  Our meetings are open to the public and you may just meet someone who lives near you.

We have Field Days where you can see real bees and bee management in action.  Do you want to see honey extracted from bee hives?  Do you want to see how to inspect your bees?  Or test and treat for mites?  Members can come to our Field Days and learn this and more.

If you are new to beekeeping or beekeeping in a desert environment, we have just the recorded class for you.  When you become a member, we have a 4 session recorded class that covers all the basics of desert beekeeping taught by a Master Beekeeper.  We send you the recordings and you can watch them as often as you would like.

When you have questions, our members have a special Facebook group staffed with experts who will answer your questions.  Our group has two master Beekeepers, a DVM, and beekeepers with years of experience all willing and waiting to answer your questions 24, 7.

What does it cost to be a member of AAS?  Just $20 a year for your whole family!
